No Place Like Home

Time really flies so fast. My daughter is now 19 months. I have been here in America for 2 years and 4 months, and 6 months since I had last posted in my blog. In all these time, one thing never change, I am homesick. Homesick with my beloved Philippines.

I am sure, fellow immigrants here in the U.S. and other OFW share the same sentiments as I have. The smell of street food like fishballs, kikiam, shrimp balls, isaw and barbecue fills my nostril. How could one forget the famous balut, mani and kakanin. Halo-halo and the so called dirty ice cream cools me down on a hot weather. Organic food here in America is quite expensive and I now realized how I had taken for granted all the vegetables and fruits in the local market back home. Homemade dish that satisfy the palate. Children playing on the ground, People chattering, the simpleness of life in a small town, warmness of people and their hospitality. And the fact that you are being surrounded by people you love is more than enough to yearn for home.

Philippines has more than its share of flaws. But, it is home. And there's no place like home.
